Start Yachting Course

This 2 day (week-end) course is intended to introduce the total novice, with limited or no experience of sailing whatsoever, into the world of Sailing.

The course is a practical one, taking place on board a cruising yacht. The course lasts a minimum of 2 days, during which time you will experience steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and become aware of safety on board.

These 2 days also count towards the 5 days required for the next step of Competent Crew.

Competent Crew Course

The course runs for 5 days from Monday to Friday during which time you will be encouraged to take an active part in all aspects of sailing the yacht.

You will be taught basic seamanship, helming, personal safety, sail handling and ropework in a relaxed environment, often in the company of other students new to the world of yachting.

We try to make the courses as much fun as possible, whilst still covering the RYA syllabus, there is no formal exam at the end of the week, as this week is a course not a test.

Practical courses include: accommodation onboard, use of lifejackets & foul weather clothing, marina fees & fuel. All breakfasts and lunches are provided and 2 evening meals.
